Chhattisgarh: Six Naxalites killed in encounter in Dantewada district

Five naxals have been killed and their bodies are with the forces.

"The encounter is still on", an unidentified official told PTI. Today's success in anti-maoist operations comes as a huge morale booster for security forces in the aftermath of last Saturday's Sukma naxal attack, where CRPF had lost 12 jawans. "Security personnel have recovered five bodies of Maoists belonging to Malangir Area Committee of Maoists from the spot while the area was still being searched till late evening", Dantewada SP Kamlochan Kashyap said.

Recovery of AK 47 and Insas assault rifles indicated that the slain Maoists may include commander ranking rebels, he added. The encounter is still underway in the Burdum area of the district.
