Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking at links between Trump associates and Russian Federation

The House Intelligence Committee will hear from FBI Director James Comey on whether USA officials believe Russian Federation tried to bolster Trump's chances in the election and if there were any connections between Moscow and Trump's campaign aides.

The President has defiantly refused to back down from his explosive claim that Barack Obama wiretapped his phones.

The same hearing also heard no physical wiretapping was carried out on Trump Tower but it was possible "other surveillance activities" were used.

The U.S. House of Representatives Rules Committee announces it will hold a final hearing on the Republican healthcare bill on Wednesday, a day before lawmakers are expected to vote on the legislation.

The director acknowledged that the FBI does not ordinarily discuss ongoing investigations, but said he has been authorised to do so given the extreme public interest in this case.

The ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, asked Rogers if he thought it was "utterly ridiculous" that anyone in the USA would ask British spies to do surveillance on a presidential candidate.

On Friday, the Department of Justice said it turned over information sought by congressional committees, which requested documents for any potential court orders or warrants related to Trump, his campaign surrogates, family or friends.

Driver of 'suspicious' vehicle sets off security alert at White House
According to CNN , the Keoughan's claim just after 11 p.m. prompted an upgrade in White House security, the Secret Service said. A robot and a fully outfitted member of the bomb squad investigated the vehicle while the driver was taken into custody.

Earlier at the hearing, he confirmed publicly for the first time that the FBI is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. He added that the investigation will also look at whether crimes were committed.

"We know there was no wiretap on Trump Tower".

The Senate Intelligence Committee has scheduled a similar hearing for later in the month.

Any lack of detail from Mr Comey would likely be contrasted with public comments he made previous year when closing out an investigation into Mrs Clinton's email practices and then, shortly before election day, announcing that the probe would be revived following the discovery of additional emails.

Trump is obviously very sensitive about this, so on the very morning when the House is having a hearing on the Russian involvement, Trump pulled out his preemptive blame Democrats card.

Comey has been invited to testify, along with the director of the National Security Agency, Michael Rogers.
