Forbes said on Monday that the number of billionaires had jumped 13 per cent to 2,043 from 1,810 a year ago.

The richest person with a tech fortune - who's also the richest person in the world-is Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates.

Others in the top 10 included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at number three, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg at number five and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison at number seven.

"Booming stock markets, higher commodities prices, and plain old-fashioned entrepreneurship helped make this a record year in terms of wealth creation around the globe", Luisa Kroll and Kerry Dolan, Assistant Managing Editors of Wealth at Forbes Media said in a statement, unveiling Forbes' 31 annual list.

Southeast Asia was home to the most billionaires at 720, Forbes said.

The traditional bronze place went to Amazon's Jeff Bezo, who accumulated an additional $27.6bn to his fortune since a year ago when he was ranked as the fifth richest person in the world.

Billionaire's across the globe saw their net worth jump by 18% to $7.7trn (£6.2trn) over the previous year, according to Forbes 2017 billionaires list.

Among others on Forbes rich list, Alibaba founder Jack Ma was ranked 23 with estimated wealth of US$28.3 billion. The number of billionaires increased 13 percent compared to 2016, the magazine noted, from 1,810 to 2,043.

Sy and his family had a net worth of $12.7 billion and ranked 94th worldwide.

The U.S. had the most billionaires with a number of 565, and China came the second with 319 billionaires.

Forbes' attributed his fall to the state of the Manhattan real estate market in which Mr Trump has invested a disproportionate amount of his fortune. The English edition of his autobiography, Making it Big, was published past year.

The richest woman, makeup magnate Liliane Bettencourt, ranked 14th with a worth of almost $40 billion.

Trump was ranked at No. 544, with a net worth of around US$3.5 billion ($5b). "Profits are down at Trump Tower, and the overall neighborhood surrounding has been struggling over the a year ago".

Chaudhari, who made his debut in the Forbes billionaire list in 2013, saw his fortune increase by US$ 210 million a year ago.

Graeme Hart, 61, is the world's 133rd richest billionaire and New Zealand's richest person.
