Men's NCAA Tournament: March Madness Latest

The madness is back in March.

In a seven-minute span starting just before the 12-minute mark of the second half, SC hit seven of its 10 field goal attempts, busting the game wide open from a 48-all deadlock into a 10-point advantage at 68-58 despite some impressive shot-making on the other end of the court.

Now the season is over, and it comes to a SC team that had not won an NCAA tournament game in 44 years before this season. USC now moves on to the Sweet 16 in NY - home of Frank McGuire, Kevin Joyce, Brian Winters and so many Gamecocks luminaries who did things no other USC squad had done until Sunday night. If they keep scoring at the rate they have been, and the Bears continue to get to the foul line (13-of-15 vs USC), then Baylor will be in a position to win. It'll be the first meeting between the two since 2014, a matchup that Baylor barely won with a 69-65 final.

As it were, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky and SC gave the SEC its most second-round teams since 2007. On average, Duke is upset by teams that are 4.4 seedings worse than they are; Oklahoma by schools that are 5.3 seedings worse. He won't have Jayson Tatum, likely won't have Luke Kennard and could very well be missing Grayson Allen and Harry Giles, too.

"It was a really tough game", ASU coach Charli Turner Thorne said.

In the final 205 seconds, Felder scored seven points with two rebounds and an assist.

Before Sunday, the bracket had been like a deflated balloon compared to previous iterations.

Donovan Mitchell scored 19 points and Deng Adel had 16 points to lead Louisville (25-9), which had made the Sweet 16 in its last four NCAA Tournament appearances. And that was just the first round.

MI made 16 3-pointers against the Cowboys and has made 33 of 52 shots (63.4 percent) after halftime in those two wins.

The highlights from the first three days of this year's tournament: The top overall seed going down in the second round and a player mistakenly fouling in the closing seconds when his team was up, not down.

The other half of Friday's bracket in NY features fourth-seeded Florida (26-8) against No. 8 seed Wisconsin (27-9), which upset the reigning champion Wildcats on Saturday. The Badgers play in the Big Ten and are headed to the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight season, so it wasn't exactly a David-and-Goliath scenario.

"Coming out and watching it with a couple hundred of your closest fans is the best way to watch the game for sure", one fan said.

That's where Commodores guard Matthew Fisher-Davis inexplicably grabbed Northwestern's Bryant McIntosh on goal despite his team leading by 1. OK, so maybe it would have been better than I thought. Vanderbilt lost 68-66. The slam sent The Well into a frenzy and forced Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski to take a timeout, his team trailing 55-49. You could feel it. He was tremendous today. Nothing would surprise me.

Three No. 11 seeds got through the first round with upsets over No. 6 seeds, but two are out of the bracket already. He offered his view on the political spectrum, sharing his perspective and noting that he hoped the state of North Carolina would catch up with common sense sometime in this century.

The buzzer beaters came down to a miss and a make that didn't matter.

UCLA was the nation's top-scoring team during the season and put up 97 points against Kent State in its opener.

Maryland 83. West Virginia 56: Destiny Slocum nailed a 70-foot shot to cap a pivotal second quarter for Maryland, and the Terrapins went on to defeat West Virginia.
