Reliance Jio, the high-flying telecom network of the country will become paid after March 31 under the JioPrime subscription scheme.
"The claim of Airtel is not true, and is misleading, and has been made with the knowledge that the methodology adopted for to determine the mobile internet speed was completely flawed (this has been accepted by Ookla, LLC in correspondence with us)", Reliance Jio said in its letter to Advertising Standards Council of India dated march 20, 2017. Ookla's findings are based on analysis of millions of internet speed tests logged on "modern devices" by mobile customers across India using its popular speed test app.
Also, the survey revealed that the users of Airtel are the least ones who opted to make Jio as their primary SIM card, whereas the users of Vodafone India are highly willing to make Jio as their main number, which is followed by the subscribers of Idea Cellular. Recently, we published a report stating that the residents of Delhi claimed that they wouldn't be using Jio anymore after April 1 as other operators in India offer better than Jio.
"The results include all mobile tests, regardless of connection technology", Airtel said in its response.
The company has raised objections to Airtel using the tag line "officially the fastest network" on grounds that Ookla is a commercial enterprise and the word "officially" is used only in the context of awards by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) or the Department of Telecommunications. Airtel, as a dominant player in the Indian telecom market for the last 22 years, can not plead ignorance to the implication of an undue advantage it will gain by use of such word.
Ivanka Trump facing lawsuit over Kellyanne Conway endorsement
Now a San Francisco-based fashion company, Modern Appealing Clothing , is suing the Ivanka Trump label over "unfair competition". Can't say they don't have a point; Ivanka's sales have reportedly skyrocketed in the past couple months.
The report also stated that most of the 2G/3G users in the sample test expect to upgrade to 4G within the next year, and 80 per cent say they will consider Jio when they do.
"Airtel has wilfully, deliberately and knowingly misled the Indian public", Jio alleged.
"In a notice to Ookla, Jio has accused the company of misleading India public by by certifying Airtel the "India" fastest mobile carrier". It also showed consumers a certificate that was apparently issued to it by Ookla, saying that Airtel was India's fastest network in 2016.
If you are using data on SIM 2 and if you do a speed test on their application, they will select the network present on SIM 1.
