Trump administration appeals block of revised travel ban

Stopped again! On March 15, a federal judge froze President Donald Trump's new executive order nationwide - the second immigration ban from his administration - hours before it was going to take effect! The Trump administration is appealing the Maryland decision to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

"The history of public statements continues to provide a convincing case that the goal of the second executive order remains the realization of the long-envisioned Muslim ban", Chuang wrote.

On Wednesday a federal judge in Hawaii blocked the federal government from enforcing its ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries and its suspension of the nation's refugee program.

Because Trump is challenging the Maryland judge's decision, the next battle is in the Richmond, Va. -based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Hawaii and the other plaintiff in the case believe department's motion will "unduly delay resolution" of the case and have indicated that they will file an opposition brief, according to court filings. "Any reasonable, objective observer would conclude ... that the stated secular goal of the Executive Order is, at the very least, "secondary to a religious objective" of temporarily suspending the entry of Muslims". Last month, a panel of 9th Circuit judges upheld an order from a court in Washington that barred the first executive order from being implemented.

White House aide Sebastian Gorka said there is "no way on God's earth" that President Donald Trump's travel ban could be construed as discriminatory to Muslims, though multiple federal judges have ruled that it is. A judge has blocked our executive order on travel ban.

The Hawaii and Maryland rulings came after a trio of hearings Wednesday on the ban.

And it wasn't missed on the Hawaii judge, who cited this press statement from the Trump campaign after the San Bernardino, California attack in December 2015.

According to Pakistan, designs of the three projects are not in line with the treaty, whereas India has maintained otherwise. India had suspended the annual PIC talks in Sept 2016 - ostensibly in wake of Uri attack in Occupied Kashmir.

The president issued his revised order 6 March in hopes of fixing practical and legal problems with the original that resulted in chaos and protests at USA airports and ended in court decisions preventing its implementation.

The judge discounted that the revised ban removed exceptions for Christians in the six countries listed.

Hawaii is one of several USA states trying to stop the ban.

Then President Trump issued a new ban - one created to address the legal concerns of the 9th Circuit, the administration says.

"This order doesn't draw any religious distinction at all", he added.

In the Washington state case, Robart on February 3 issued a nationwide preliminary injunction blocking implementation of Trump's January 27 ban.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, joined in his lawsuit by heavily Democratic California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and OR, said the revised ban is still flawed and harms residents, universities and businesses, especially tech companies such as Washington state-based Microsoft and Amazon that rely on foreign workers.

Trump's campaign once included a call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, a policy that was later changed to advocating "extreme vetting" for people from countries with a link to terrorism.
