Boston now holds a 1.5-game lead over Washington for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference standings. I know what's at stake, I know it's a big game for us.

Boston's 110-102 win over Washington on Monday was more than just the Celtics beating a quality opponent (that they can't stand). However, the Wizards have performed well against the C's, as they've won two of the three meetings between the two teams this season.

Thomas is the team's second-leading scorer at 29.2 points per game.

Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens clearly had offense in mind when he reinserted Isaiah Thomas for the final possession of the third quarter, but could not have predicted how the 5-foot-9 guard scored his ensuing bucket. The Boston Celtics have won three straight home games.

The Eastern Conference two great teams playing tonight in Boston.

Of course the Wizards have time to bounce back and potentially overtake the Celtics for the No. 2 spot in the East, but that seems highly unlikely. With just 12 games remaining, the Celtics have the opportunity to gain a stranglehold on the No. 2 seed in the East with a victory.

And home has been good to Boston lately with four straight wins at the TD Garden, and victories in 11 of their last 12 home games dating back to January 25.

The Wizards were held to a season-low 36.7% shooting on Saturday night in Charlotte as the Hornets beat them for the first time this year.

"We're getting there, but we have to get better", Isaiah Thomas told CSNNE.com following the win.

With the regular season winding down, both teams will be looking to get back in the win column in order to bolster their postseason push.

Six players are averaging at least 11.2 points per game for Washington, they are: Bradley Beal (23.1), Wall (23.0), Bojan Bogdanovic (15.4), Markieff Morris (14.1), Otto Porter Jr. The trash-talking started early, and the C's went on a 21-10 run to close the first half after Terry Rozier and Washington's Brandon Jennings earned matching technicals.

"It was pretty cool", Thomas said. Washington is also just 1-10-1 against the number in its last 12 games playing on one day of rest and is winless at 0-4 ATS in its last four games overall.
