Barkha quits Cong post, slams Rahul and Maken

Charging the Congress vice president with not meeting party leaders Barkha Singh says Rahul Gandhi is ‘reluctant’ to address ‘issues’ within the party organisation

Earlier, a Delhi Congress delegation had met the President seeking his intervention in registration of a case against the Delhi Chief Minister and others. Why does Rahul Gandhi shy away from meeting party leaders who ask him questions? "When the matter was brought to the notice of Rahul Gandhi, nothing happened", said Singh, a former chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

Delhi Congress' chief spokesperson Sharmishtha Mukherjee said that Singh was settling her personal grudges and hurting party interests at a crucial time when MCD polls are round the corner. She also hit out at vice president Rahul Gandhi and the party's Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken. "Party does not belong to one person it belongs to its workers", she tweeted. Barkha said that when she along with other women party members approached Rahul to air their grievances, they were told he had a packed schedule and could not attend to them.

Talking to a news agency, Singh said "On the day of Navratra on March 28, I, along with a number of other fasting women workers of the party, tried to meet Rahul Gandhi". When we reached his residence, we were told that he is busy.

"The one pertinent question we need to ask today is why is Rahul Gandhi in hiding?"

"The same night, he was partying at Shangri La hotel", Barkha, who flashed a photo of Rahul partying inside a hotel, said. It is because of this attitude of Rahul Gandhi and Ajay Maken that as many as 5 District Presidents and 75 Block Presidents resigned from the organisation.

Wall Street's Charging Bull sculptor wants Fearless Girl statue removed
Eventually, the city gave in to the public requesting the artwork to remain in the Financial District close to Wall Street. Siegel said he hopes the dispute can be resolved amicably but added, "We never dismiss the possibility of litigation".

"Senior most leaders of the party, I would not like to name anybody, are also of the view that Rahul Gandhi is mentally unfit to lead the party but choose not to say it because of reasons that are unknown to me", Ms Singh said.

"I will not quit Congress and continue to wage my war within the party", she said.

"He (Rahul) is only interested in meeting sycophants and not leaders who reason, question and ask", she added.

Barkha's revolt against her party came days after Lovely and former Youth Congress leader Amit Malik quit the party and joined the BJP.
