Monaco vs. Borussia Dortmund

The home leg in Germany was overshadowed by an attack on the Dortmund team bus as it headed to the stadium.

Monaco booked their spot in the final four with another fine attacking display in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

There was a high security presence near Monaco's stadium on Wednesday, with armed police - some with automatic rifles - patrolling the vicinity.

Radamel Falcao has warned Monaco can not actually afford to take qualification for granted when they confront Borussia Dortmund in the next leg of the Champions League quarterfinal. Understandably the events of last week are not to be forgotten but a team with the class and professionalism of Dortmund will be sure come out firing, especially since star man Marco Reus is set to make his return.

Falcao's diving header, the 27th goal of his comeback season, made it 2-0 in the 17th minute.

Falcao has warned Monaco not to think Dortmund are out of the champions league yet, as they prepare for the second leg.

Teenage winger Kylian Mbappe has scored 21 goals, including two in the first leg last week.

Monaco, which reached the semifinals in 2004 on its way to the final, will join Juventus, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in Friday's draw.

Shortly before the match, Monaco played the famed song from Liverpool football club "You'll Never Walk Alone" in honor of Dortmund, with fans from both sides singing along with their scarves raised.

However, their second-leg preparation was also disrupted with Dortmund saying their bus was held for 20 minutes by local police. "They have [Gonzalo] Castro and [Marco] Reus back and they're two very important players for them".

The Ligue 1 side took a 3-2 first-leg lead back to Stade Louis II, where kick-off was pushed back five minutes after Dortmund's team bus was delayed.

"We do not comment on media reports", the spokesman said, adding that he did not want to elaborate on whether the explosions were still regarded as a terror attack.

"We understand that tomorrow is a closing, it'll be required to value our principles of play". I try to do what I know how to do and for now it's working. "This quarter of an hour prevented us from thinking about football when we were well prepared for the match".

Dortmund's urgency to find goals left them exposed at the back and Falcao controlled Jemerson's long punt before wastefully scooping his shot over the crossbar.
