Gen Raheel Sharif gets NOC to head Islamic military alliance: reports

Raheel Sharif was issued on Fridaya no-objection certification (NOC) from the government to join as Chief of Saudi-led Islamic military alliance of 39 countries, ARY News reported.

Three government officials said a flight took Raheel Sharif to Saudi Arabia on Friday.

Soon after the go-ahead was given to General Sharif, a specially chartered airplane sent by Saudi Arab flew from old airport of Lahore today carrying him to Saudi Arab.

Last month, Pakistan's National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasir Janjua said that General Sharif spearheading the Saudi military alliance would bring unity to the Muslim world.

The prime minister also advised the ambassador to work with utmost dedication for the welfare of Pakistani Diaspora with particular attention to education of their children. He said that the ambassador should regularly interact with the Pakistani community and promptly resolve their problems. Earlier this week, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa had assured Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost that Pakistan-Iran ties would "remain unaffected by recent developments".
