President Trump welcomes New England Patriots

The Times on Wednesday tweeted an Associated Press photo of the Patriots standing behind Obama on the south side of the White House in 2015. In 2015, the Patriots had won their first Super Bowl in 11 years and most of the players were enjoying their first opportunity to visit the White House.

Some players reportedly declined to attend the White House ceremony because they didn't want to be seen with Trump.

The New England Patriots were at the White House to be honoured for their Super Bowl win.

This year half of the New England Patriots squad embarrassed the President by refusing to show up for this year's festivities because footballers, it turns out, have a social and political conscience as well! But exactly how long has this tradition been around, how many teams have been invited and which ones actually attended? ".This year's championship was achieved after falling behind by 25 points, a deficit so great that in the 97-year history of the National Football League, over 20,000 games, that deficit had only been overcome seven times".

"It nearly brought me to tears", said Mitchell.

Despite the low turnout, the Patriots have ties with the Trump administration as owner Robert K. Kraft donated $1 million to inauguration festivities.

But since then, Brady has dodged questions about his relationship with Trump, telling ESPN that his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, told him not to "talk about politics anymore." .

Georgia election a 'wake-up call' for US Republicans
Republicans have held the seat since 1979, and past occupants include former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and current Georgia Sen. Trump happily congratulated Republicans in a tweet chiding the media and the support streaming into Georgia from other states.

Trump, a longtime friend of Patriots owner Bob Kraft, lauded the team's come-from-behind journey, recounting key moments in the thrilling overtime triumph and comparing it to his own improbable win in November.

Earlier in the day, Patriots tight end and class clown Rob Gronkowski crashed White House press secretary Sean Spicer's media briefing, offering to help. "I think I got this".

Trump says "no team has been good this long".

Spicer, a Patriots fan who grew up in the East Bay area of Rhode Island remarked, "That was cool", amid laughter.

Noticeably absent from the White House event was Super Bowl MVP and star quarterback Tom Brady. The team has not officially commented on this development. He was serving time in a maximum security prison for a 2015 murder conviction. Hernandez was acquitted just days ago of the 2012 shootings of two other men in Boston.
