Samsung has started firmware development for the Galaxy Note 8

The report is a counter to the company's costly failure past year with the fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 device.

The company surprised analysts in January when it predicted a similar rise in earnings for the final quarter of 2016, even though operating profits for its smartphone division had plummeted by 98% in the third quarter alone as the Note 7 fiasco took hold.

It comes as the technology firm reported a 48% jump in profits during the first three months of 2017, despite the failure of its Galaxy Note 7 handset past year.

Profits are expected to have increased by a very big 48% and the company says the profit for Q1 2017 was likely $8.8 billion, or 9.9 trillion won. Revenue jumped 0.4 percent to 50 trillion won, above the analysts' forecasts.

The strong comeback was a result of booming sales of memory chips and flat-panel displays, Samsung said.

Although its IT and mobile business is presumed to have posted lackluster earnings on the suspension of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, industry watchers said the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, which will hit shelves this month, will help the company recoup earnings down the road. Previously, the smartphone business was the company's main contributor.

Google Home can now distinguish voices, support multiple users
Google said Google Assistant on Google Home should recognise you going forward and be personalised to you - from music to news. To learn your voice, Google Home will ask you to speak the key phrases that "wake up" the device.

The latest release of the Galaxy C7 Pro in India is basically what underpins this statement, but the phone is not the first in the Galaxy C series to make it to one of the most promising emerging markets.

Some researchers forecast the S8, which sports the largest screens for Samsung high-end smartphones to date, would set a new first-year sales record. He and Samsung have denied wrongdoing.

Nevertheless, the latest financial figures show how Samsung has managed to overcome all the obstacles after messing up with one of its flagship products a year ago.

This is on top of the political scandal that has engulfed the entire country of South Korea too. It led to the suspension of President Park Geun-hye for allegedly receiving bribes.

The Seoul district court is expected to give its ruling in May. Samsung Group's de facto leader appeared in court on Friday after his arrest seven weeks ago on charges including bribery, embezzlement, perjury, diverting assets overseas and concealing gains from a criminal act.
