VP Pence to North Korea: "The Sword Stands Ready"

With more hawkish language directed at Pyongyang alongside the bombing of a Syrian airbase earlier this month, the Trump administration has hinted at the possibility of a pre-emptive military response to North Korea's nuclear and missile tests.

"We'll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis", Vice Foreign Minister Han Song Ryol told the BBC on Monday.

North Korea's state television aired chilling footage of the United States being hit by a nuclear bomb in a World War 3 simulation.

Just a few days ago, however, United States media circulated reports that Trump might order a strike against North Korea if Pyongyang decides to carry out a new nuclear weapons test.

Now, as Pence goes forth to beat the Trump drum about his leader's leaky valve of patience, there are many questions as to just who would join the army of supporters simply because the American president has spoken....or, rather ranted.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, "We know the situation is tense. The more tense things are, the more calm we need to be to find the opportunities and possibilities for dialogue".

The performance was attended by the elder Kim's grandson and current dictator, Kim Jong-un.

The Trump administration is hoping that China will help rein in North Korea in exchange for other considerations.

It said the affected models may contain a small gear that appeared to have been manufactured improperly by a third-party supplier. But Tesla adds that, is "in order to be cautious" it is acting proactive I replacing the parts to head off any potential issues.

North Korea has recognized the "Day of the Sun" over the weekend in honor of late founding father Kim Il Sung's 105th birthday. "We regard it as part of the USA global missile defence program, which is stationed along the Russian borders and therefore poses a threat to our security", he said.

Analysts, however, point out that without China's help, the US would not be able to target all of North Korea's nuclear stockpile.

In Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters he hopes "there will be no unilateral actions like those we saw recently in Syria and that the USA will follow the line that President Trump repeatedly voiced during the election campaign".

The unannounced visit at the start of Pence's 10-day trip to Asia was a US show of force that allowed him to gaze at North Korean soldiers from afar and stare directly across a border marked by razor wire.

Along with the deployment of the US aircraft carrier and other vessels into waters off the Korean Peninsula, thousands of USA and South Korean troops, tanks and other weaponry were deployed last month in their biggest joint military exercises.

China appears to be preparing measures in case North Korea tests a nuclear device or performs another provocation, including possibly suspending oil to the regime.

Perhaps the North Koreans calculated (rightly, it seems) that either a nuclear test or a test of an intercontinental ballistic missile - a long-range missile of the kind they would need to carry a nuclear warhead to the continental United States - was too unsafe. Pence pointed out the recent actions of the U.S.in Syria and Afghanistan demonstrated the power of the us military and Trump's resolve.

"So, it is most likely that [the US] won't launch a strike against North Korea", the Russian political scientist reiterated, "This adventure would have ended very badly for the USA".
