Donald Trump impeachment: What could Trump be charged with?

As for Mr Comey, whom Mr Trump fired last week, the FBI director wrote in a memo after a February meeting at the White House that the new president had asked him to shut down the FBI's investigation of Mr Flynn and his Russian contacts, said a person who had read the memo.

The New York Times reports that Comey created memos regarding his interactions with the president, documenting what he perceived as improper efforts to influence an ongoing investigation.

Given that Comey reportedly made a habit of taking notes, the committee also asked the FBI for any notes Comey took from interactions with former President Barack Obama, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, regarding the Clinton email investigation or Trump associates' alleged ties to Russian Federation.

Comey shared his notes from the conversation with aides, who in turn described the notes to reporters.

"He was concerned", the second source said.

Comey, who was sacked by Trump last week, detailed his conversation with the president in the memo immediately after the meeting, said the report.

Flynn was sacked on February 13 after it was revealed he had misled Vice President Pence about his conversations with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak about U.S. sanctions recently imposed on Russia; Flynn had been speaking with Kislyak during the transition period between Election Day and Trump's inauguration. And citing a Washington Post story about Trump revealing classified information to Russian diplomats in the Oval Office a day after firing Comey, Risch said it had been disclosed by "a weasel. a traitor". Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said panel members were also inviting Comey to testify at an undetermined date.

"White House leadership will be important in order to pass tax reform, and the administration's ability to lead politically is greatly in doubt", they write.

It's far too soon to make a definitive judgment about whether any laws have been broken in connection with the president's contacts with James Comey, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director he fired a week ago.

And amid the bubbling crises, Trump is set to depart at the end of the week on his first foreign trip as president, traveling to a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting in Brussels, Belgium; a G7 meeting in Italy; Saudi Arabia; the Vatican; and Israel - the country whose intelligence about an ISIS plot to use laptops on airplanes Trump reportedly breached protocol by sharing with the Russians.

The reason, the President implied, was that Comey wouldn't end his investigation into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation - allegations the President insists were untrue.

Several tornadoes touch down in the Plains, Midwest during severe weather Tuesday
The National Weather Service listed more than 20 reports of tornadoes from Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma , Nebraska and Wisconsin . The forecast bull's-eye of the storm includes Wichita, Kansas, and rural areas of southern Kansas and western Oklahoma .

"Speaker Ryan has shown he has zero, zero, zero appetite for any investigation of President Trump".

If I were the president's legal adviser I would place a sock in his mouth and then tape around the sock and then I would put his fingers in mittens and tape around the mittens so that he could never tweet again.

The FBI said they have no comment on the Times story.

Comey has a history of memorializing controversial conversations and issues - he did so during the George W. Bush administration, where he served as deputy attorney general, with respect to those controversial "enhanced interrogation techniques" used by the Central Intelligence Agency on terror detainees in the wake of 9/11.

Trump fired Comey last week, with the White House initially claiming it was because of a memo from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that concluded Comey had mishandled the investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Asking Comey to let the Flynn investigation go might not qualify as obstruction of justice, but it dances close to the line.

But let's get real: At this point in the game, all the explainers about how impeachment works (the 1990s called, they want their sex scandals back!) and adapting the 25th Amendment's ability to remove the president from decision-making during colonoscopies to the current crisis are evidence-free exercises in ideological masturbation. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., tore into Ryan and Chaffetz, urging an immediate subpoena for White House records involving Flynn and a quick public hearing featuring Comey.

A US House of Representatives spokesperson has said that it was "obvious" that there were people who wanted to "harm" President Donald Trump by leaking documents of former FBI Director about alleged pressure exerted on him by the mogul.

The existence of the memo was first reported on Tuesday by The New York Times.

The Democrats were Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY and Sens.
