Assistant Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady said the Democratic strategy could derail efforts to find a bipartisan solution in the final two weeks of the Legislature's spring session.

Sen. Jason Barickman, R-Bloomington, says more negotiations are necessary.

"It's not time yet, we just need a little bit more time so at some point you just have to recognize maybe the person on the other side of the table isn't serious about getting a deal done", said Sen.

Illinois Senate Democrats garnered mixed results with votes Wednesday on most pieces of the "grand bargain" legislative package to end the state's budget impasse.

When it comes to approving a budget, IL lawmakers appear to be closer than they've been in almost two years. Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago challenged Republicans during floor debate.

"Do you think it's going to get any better?"

January 28, 2015: The North Carolina Senate filed a bill, known as SB2, which allows magistrates to recuse themselves from performing marriages "based on any sincerely held religious objections". They also approved to borrow 7 billion dollars to pay down the state backlog of bills. "If it last four years we need a property tax freeze for four years", said Sen. Nor did he call a vote on increasing the personal income tax from 3.75 percent to 4.95 percent. Democrats passed the spending bill Wednesday.

"The issue is: Why did the Republicans not vote for the budget?" The state will end the fiscal year June 30 almost $6 billion in debt, and on Wednesday, overdue bills hit $14.3 billion for the first time.

"What happened today was a political show, orchestrated by the Democrats, who are trying to portray political agreements that do not yet exist", Barickman said after the vote.

Cullerton said lawmakers are close to a bipartisan deal on workers' comp changes, and he would call that bill Thursday. Cullerton says Democrats are also willing to freeze property taxes for 2 years, not any longer.
