French President-elect Emmanuel Macron gestures during a victory

His newly renamed grassroots movement, "Republique en Marche" (Republic on the Move), which was founded only 13 months ago, will finally reveal the vast majority of the 577 candidates who will stand in parliamentary elections in June.

While some world leaders such as British Prime Minister Theresa May, US President Donald Trump (though he had earlier backed Le Pen) and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping extended their congratulations to Macron nearly immediately, one of the most interesting well wishes came on Monday morning from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Macron has promised that half of those candidates will be new to elected politics, as he was before his victory Sunday.

Mr. Macron has become one of the most powerful leaders in Europe and carrying on political and economic reforms agenda for France as well as for the Europe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Emmanuel Macron last evening, congratulating him on his victory in French Presidential election.

The new president has said he wants to break with the traditional left-right political axis in France and Valls is inextricably linked to unpopular outgoing Socialist President Francois Hollande.

On Monday, though, Hollande gripped Macron's arm before the two men walked side by side and then announced the transfer of power would take place Sunday.

Macron won the presidency with 66 percent of votes cast for a candidate, but the vote saw a high number of blank or spoiled votes and unusually low turnout.

To meet that goal, he appointed well-known environmentalist Nicolas Hulot as ecology minister and a publisher as culture minister. Macron's own La Republique en Marche movement is fielding candidates for the elections- more than 400 of whom have been chosen.

Monday also marked decades of peace in Western Europe, something Macron highlighted in his campaign against Le Pen.

The French president-elect, Emmanuel Macron, plans to visit German Chancellor Angela Merkel shortly after his inauguration, according to Sylvie Goulard, a member of the European Parliament and a close confidante of Macron.

Mr Rachline said Ms Le Pen will lead the opposition to Mr Macron.

"This Socialist Party is dead, it is behind us", Valls added Tuesday.

Republicans vice-president Laurent Wauquiez emphasised Macron's vulnerability, noting he had been a grudging choice of president for many voters, who backed him only to block Le Pen.

In Britain, Prime Minister Theresa May said Macron's win makes it even more important for British voters to back her Conservatives in the early election she called for June 8, to strengthen Britain's hand in its divorce proceedings with the EU.
