'Pakistan will accept ICJ's decision on Kulbhushan Jadhav'

Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, on Thursday said that Islamabad would accept the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

The UN court for hearing disputes between states stayed the execution till it has time to hear a case brought by India arguing that Pakistan violated its obligations under an global treaty.

"Major victory for India #KulbhushanJadhav case".

"Consular access is part of the right to defence". They (Pakistan) are exposed. "I'm sure final order too will go in our favour (sic)", Naidu tweeted.

The court yesterday pronounced its verdict on India's plea seeking provisional measures restraining the execution of Jadhav by Pakistan. "A dispute existed, as the court has said with regard to the circumstances of the arrest, with the lack of consular access, and all of it clearly falls into the zone of what Pakistan needs to comply with the regard to the Vienna Convention", he asserted.

Joining the leaders in welcoming the order, Delhi Chief Minster and AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal tweeted the entire country is united in ensuing Jadhav's safe release.

"Being an arbitration forum, each contesting state was allowed to nominate one person of its choice to act as an ad hoc judge at the ICJ.India did nominate one but Pakistan did not", Khokhar said, adding that Pakistan's counsel did not argue for the full allotted time either.

China says hopes new South Korean government will correct problems
Moon's spokesman, Yoon Young, said last week that the special delegation to Beijing would "exclusively discuss the THAAD and the North's nuclear issues".

"It is just a continuation of its earlier understanding", Yechury observed. Pakistan will have to explain why it took this particular course of denying India consular access and trying him in a military court with draconian powers.

India had dragged Pakistan to the ICJ over the death sentence handed down to Jadhav by a secret military court for alleged espionage and sabotage activities. The Tehreek-e-Insaf politician said Pakistan could have withdrawn from being party to the Vienna Convention's optional protocol.

"Court considers it a failure on the part of Pakistan to present counselors to Jhadav", the president said. Domestically, the Pakistan Army, rather than the civilian government, will find itself on the back foot after the ICJ judgment because it was prosecuting Jadhav.

"I could not understand why the ICJ issued a stay order in the Jadhav case without even understanding the case".

"We did not explain our appeal and review system to show there was no urgency - we simply said Kulbhushan would be executed in August 2017". In this case, India and Pakistan both differ on the question of India's consular assistance to Jadhav under the Vienna Convention.

"We lost important cases at the worldwide forum in the last couple of years".
