Roger Ailes, Former Fox News CEO, Dead At 77

"The impact of Roger Ailes on American politics and media was indisputable", said CNN commentator David Axelrod, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, on Twitter Thursday morning, when news of the former Fox CEO's death at the age of 77 became public.

"I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning", she wrote. She described her husband as a "patriot", a "loving husband" and a "loyal friend".

Update 4:45 p.m.: The Palm Beach County, Florida, Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death of Roger Ailes an accident, according to a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

"The power of Fox News can not be overstated in Republican politics", said GOP strategist Alex Conant, who advised two presidential campaigns. He was taken to a hospital by attending paramedics.

He started Fox News nearly from scratch in 1996 and built it into not just a cable news ratings leader, but a profound influence on the right wing of American politics.

Murdoch led tributes to the late Fox News chairman, hailing what he called his "huge role in shaping America's media". "Roger was a great patriot who never ceased fighting for his beliefs".

Ailes, an OH native, began his television career in the early 1960s as a producer at The Mike Douglas Show in Cleveland, and went onto serve as media consultant for several Republican presidents, including Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

In a 2014 autobiography, Ailes is quoted in 2010 telling Fox News executives, "I want to elect the next president".

Court Orders Uber To Return Stolen Files To Waymo
The US District Judge ruled out the argument saying that Uber can not implement arbitration contracts it did not sign. Levandowski is also accused of having stolen a treasure trove of Google documentation before leaving the company.

Earhardt, a Spring Valley High and University of SC graduate, appeared near tears as she and fellow "Fox & Friends" anchors shared the news, according to multiple media reports.

"Today America lost one of its great patriotic warriors".

He built the Fox network into the nation's long-running No. 1 cable news network by creating a new paradigm for television, according to Gail Shister, the TV/Radio Columnist at the Philadelphia Inquirer for 25 years, from 1982 through 2007.

The Roger Ailes and Trump relationship was a mutually beneficial one. "Controversy aside those people still say they're thankful to Roger Ailes for their careers", Said Dr. Adam Earnheardt, Associate Professor and Chair of the Communications Department at Youngstown State University. Ailes fell in his bathroom, hit his head and was bleeding profusely.

Since Ailes' ouster in July, Fox News has split with Kelly, Van Susteren and Bill O'Reilly, who faced his own sexual harassment allegations. He was also reported to have advised President Donald Trump in the 2016 campaign.

Roger is survived by his wife Elizabeth (whom he married in 1998) and their 17-year-old son, Zachary.

And now we've heard from perhaps the biggest FNC star of all time.
