Senator says Flynn hasn't responded to subpoena

Burr told reporters Thursday that Flynn's lawyer informed the panel he will not abide by a subpoena for private documents.

The chairman of the Senate intelligence committee says his panel has not received a response from Michael Flynn's lawyer — correcting his earlier statement that Flynn would not comply with a subpoena.

The Senate subpoenaed the former National Security Adviser last week as part of an investigation of President Donald Trump's ties to Russian Federation.

Flynn was ousted following reports that he misled Pence and others when he denied discussing sanctions in a phone conversation with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak before Trump's inauguration.

Page and Stone shared copies of their request letters with The Associated Press. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) of the Senate Intelligence Committee have publicly said that so far they have seen no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. Hours earlier, Burr said Flynn's lawyer said he wouldn't comply, "and that is not a surprise to the committee".

Providing those records to the committee would provide authorities with "a lot more information and the legal basis for questioning him about them", she said.

At Cannes, boos can crush a film (or not)
After her Met Gala 2017 style met with mixed responses, everybody waited for Deepika Padukone's Cannes fashion statements. Johnny Depp's daughter, the 17-year-old actress and model Lily-Rose Depp, appeared in a white dress with gold trimmings.

Amid Justice interest, Trump formally chose Flynn as his national security adviser.

The communications had been intercepted by the US intelligence community because they involved Russian officials, who are routinely monitored for national security concerns. As the AP reported in March, an attorney for Flynn told Trump's presidential transition team- including now-White House counsel Don McGahn - that Flynn might have to register as a foreign agent.

Flynn Intel was paid only $530,000 for the work, which ended in November after Trump's election victory. Flynn, who had worked as Trump's national security adviser during the campaign and served in the White House for less than a month, has been at the center of the controversy.

McClatchy reported that Flynn blocked a plan conceived by former President Barack Obama's administration against the so-called Islamic State that Turkey's government opposed.

The Justice Department declined to prosecute former Attorney General Eric Holder in 2012 when he skirted a congressional subpoena over a case where the ATF purposely allowed licensed firearms dealers to sell guns to illegal buyers hoping to track the weapons to Mexican drug cartels.
