Trump denies telling Comey to back off, bashes former Federal Bureau of Investigation director

On Wednesday, former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel for the investigation into links between Trump's campaign and Russian election hacking.

Trump also changed his story once again about the circumstances surrounding Comey's firing, returning again to the White House's original rationale that he based his decision on Rosenstein's recommendation.

Trump said his administration was committed to cutting the flow of drugs into the United States.

During a speech at the Coast Guard Academy commencement Wednesday, an aggrieved Trump aired his mounting frustrations, declaring that "no politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly". "So poor, in fact, that I believe...that's why the deputy attorney general went out and wrote his very, very strong letter".

Trump has cast himself throughout the Russian Federation investigation as an aggrieved president who is being mistreated by the media.

In the memo, which ABC News has not seen, Comey wrote that he was asked by the president to let the Flynn probe go in February. Trump fired Comey last week, suggesting his decision was motivated by the FBI's investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and his campaign.

Feeding the US image of Russian self-satisfaction, Time Magazine's latest cover shows the White House being swallowed up by the Kremlin's red brick walls and the onion domes of St. Basil's cathedral. Flynn is under investigation for his contacts with Russian Federation as well as his work on behalf of Turkey's government while he was a prominent campaign supporter of Trump.

Images on social media also showed people being taken away on stretchers and other casualties strewn around the walkway. The vehicle crashed into a pole and came to rest at 45th Street and Broadway before police took the driver away.

The committee is one of several on Capitol Hill investigating possible collusion between Russian Federation and President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign. He has become a central figure in the investigations going on in Congress.

Burr, the Senate intelligence panel's chairman, said they are awaiting word from Flynn's attorneys whether he will comply with a subpoena for his records.

"If the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorised to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters", the order says. The Mueller appointment will, at least temporarily, relieve some of the pressure on congressional Republicans who've publicly complained that the constant drama and serial controversies at the White House were hindering their ability to work on their policy agenda.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has mocked USA news reports suggesting President Donald Trump shared sensitive intelligence with him about terror threats involving laptops on airplanes.

Despite his gaffes, Donald Trump insists the media are to blame for the mounting crisis consuming the White House.

During Thursday's meeting, Trump will likely seek Colombia's help pressuring Nicolas Maduro, president of neighboring Venezuela, which is being roiled by nearly daily protests that have shaken Maduro's grip on power. "We lost so many jobs and so many companies", he added.
