Trump won't move United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said that the Western Wall is obviously in Israel.

Previous presidents including Bill Clinton and George W. Bush pledged to move the Israel embassy in their campaigns, only to abandon the promise in the face of political reality.

A day later, USA ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said the Western Wall belongs to Israel and that the US embassy should be moved to Jerusalem, another one of Trump's campaign promises from which the White House has been trying to back away.

"Now we ask you to send a message early in your administration that the United States will indeed honor its strongest and only true democratic ally in the Middle East by respecting its capital city-Jerusalem-and immediately moving the US Embassy there. However, the global community does not recognize Israel's annexation of east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians seek as the capital of a future independent state".

If Trump goes to the Western Wall, he will be the first sitting president to visit the holy site, which has historically been left off presidents' schedule since its location in Jerusalem is on disputed territory that was under Jordanian control before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

"We're not here to force people to do things one way or the other with regards to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict", the official said.

Israeli officials requested Monday that Netanyahu accompany Trump and his family to the holiest site in Judaism.

Here's When 'Guardians of Galaxy 2' Happens in the MCU Timeline
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had a massive opening weekend, accumulating $425 million (Rs 2700 crore) worldwide. Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009, spent about $200 million to make the visual effects-heavy "Guardians Vol. 2".

Speaking to the Algemeiner on Tuesday, Rabbi Marvin Hier - the founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) in Los Angeles - said he believes Trump will reaffirm his stance that "Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel".

The Jerusalem Embassy Act, which was originally passed in 1995 by an nearly unanimous consensus in Congress, calls for the United States to move its embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In any event, applying the waiver provision to the law's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital makes no sense.

During a speech today, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned his upcoming trip overseas and said that while he is in Israel, he will "reaffirm our unbreakable alliance with the Jewish state". The Palestinians see it as the capital of a future independent state.

Trump campaigned on a pledge to move the embassy, but has retreated from it since assuming office. Netanyahu's office said it was astonished by the comment.

Sweet's comment came a day after The Washington Post reported that Trump divulged highly classified information about the Islamic State during his meeting with Russian officials last week. "If we have really lost a human source over there, it's a major loss and it will take years to regenerate another one", he said.
