With waiver, US lets Iran keep getting benefits of nuke deal

Although Trump continued ex-president Barack Obama's pact, which he has always been criticizing and ordered to review the deal, the US has a tough position towards Islamic Republic.

Iran Air finalized a deal last month with ATR for 20 twin-propeller aircraft, with an option to buy 20 more.

The election will occur just before Trump leaves on an eight-day trip to Europe and the Middle East, with his first stop in Saudi Arabia, a bitter regional rival of Iran. President Hassan Rouhani, who is running for a second term, told thousands of his reportedly enthusiastic followers on Wednesday: "On Friday people will go to polling stations to choose between deceitfulness and righteousness".

The US Treasury Department extended sanctions on Iran on Wednesday over concerns about its ballistic missile program. In the meantime, Jones said, the us will keep implementing the deal - including the sanctions relief. The U.S. says the program is a breach of global law because the missiles could carry nuclear warheads in the future.

"This administration is committed to countering Iran's destabilizing behavior, such as Iran's development of ballistic missiles and support to the Assad regime", Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in announcing the sanctions.

Despite Donald Trump's past criticism of the nuclear deal, his administration kept hold of the agreement on Wednesday, but renewed a waiver of nuclear-related sanctions. In the meantime, Jones said, the US will keep implementing the deal, including the sanctions relief.

She will claim that with the "help" of Labour voters, her party can defeat the SNP in "many places" across Scotland. He said the nine suspended councillors in Aberdeen "broke those rules".

The Trump administration has said that it is continuing to study the Iran nuclear deal, leaving a door open to leaving it at some point. Through a newly formed organization called Diplomacy Works, Kerry and several national security experts who served under former U.S. President Barack Obama are fighting to protect the nuclear agreement, The Independent reported. Simultaneously, the State Department released a congressionally mandated semi-annual report on human rights abuses.

Trump has described the landmark agreement as the "worst deal ever", saying he would "dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran".

The Trump administration is conducting an interagency review of USA policy to Iran and whether the nuclear deal advances United States national security interests, Jones said.

The move means that sanctions preventing any U.S. companies selling to or dealing with Iran will remain suspended for the time being.

The Treasury said it had added two Iranian defense officials and an Iranian business to its sanctions lists, accusing them of aiding the missile program or supplying explosives to Syria.

Regarding the review of Iran policy and the JCPOA that the Trump administration is conducting, former nuclear negotiator Nephew said he understands that it is very much still underway.
