In accordance with New York State labour law, Wallenda was tethered to the helicopter as she performed her stunt. She'll be on a Hula-Hoop-type device dangling from a helicopter as it flies 300 feet (91 meters) above the Falls. His stunt was also televised.

Erendira Wallenda, the wife of the famous daredevil, showed him how it's done on Thursday, besting his world record at the "iron-jaw hang" stunt.

In June 2013, her husband became the first man to cross the Grand Canyon on a tightrope, completing that record-breaking feat in under 23 minutes.

Erendira Wallenda, who traces her circus roots back seven generations on one side and eight on the other, also performs on a 70-foot sway pole and high wire.

The daredevil couple insinuated they could perform a duo stunt together in a few years.

In 2012, the Niagara Parks Commission approved the achievement of Nik Wallenda.

"She's a ballerina in the air", he said.

Nik told reporters that he's looking to build a permanent attraction in Niagara Falls that would showcase his family business.

Today, Erendira chose to go 300 feet above Niagara Falls.

"This is what I've done my entire life", Wallenda said in a press conference after the stunt.
