Witnesses described hearing a man, who was detained by members of the public at the scene, shout: "I'm going to kill Muslims" and "I did my bit". The appalling attack on Muslims in Finsbury Park is an attack on us all and on the culture and values of our country.

79 missing or presumed dead in the Grenfell Tower fire
Britain has held a moment of silence for the 79 people who are believed to have died in the high-rise fire in West London . Her First Secretary of State, Damian Green, defended the prime minister, saying she was as "distraught as we all are".

"Communities can expect to see more uniformed police officers at many of these places as reassurance, as they have seen in other crowded places".

United Kingdom home secretary Amber Rudd described it as an appalling incident and said new funding for security at religious sites had recently been arranged. People surrounded the driver and witnesses said the outraged crowd began attacking him.

Some locals came onto the street in support of the mosque on Monday, carrying signs saying "We love our mixed community" and "Leave our Muslim neighbours alone". "I just can't believe it".

Manchester was hit by a deadly attack on May 22 when a suicide bomber killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert.

"We sent over 60 medics to the scene, including ambulance crews, advance paramedics and specialist responses teams and an advance trauma team from London's Air Ambulance", said the service's Deputy Director of Operations Kevin Bate.

According to APP, worldwide media has named the suspect Darren Osborne, father of four, who witnesses said shouted: "I want to kill all Muslims", while mowing down worshippers near a mosque in the Finsbury Park.

Following an Islamist-inspired van-and-knife attack in the London Bridge area on June 3, the city saw a sharp rise in anti-Muslim crimes.

On March 22, a man drove a rented vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London and stabbed a policeman to death before being shot dead.
