Here's How Indian Celebrities Celebrated International Yoga Day '17

Yoga has connected the world with India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Wednesday, as he rolled out his mat along with millions of others across the globe to celebrate the traditional practice.

According to the United Nations, UN, the theme of this year is "Yoga for Health". The day was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 11 December 2014.

Modi urged everyone to make yoga part of their lives saying that it is not expensive to practice yoga and should be included in the daily lives just as salt is included in food.

Dhaka - Several thousand men and women joined an open session for Yoga in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka to mark the International Day of Yoga on Wednesday.

Baba Ramdev and Amit Shah also shared pictures of the yoga session on their twitter handles.

Modi said the increasing popularity of yoga spurred Unesco to add yoga to its list of intangible cultural heritage, along with Cuba's rumba and Peru's scissor dance, in December previous year.

The programme began with the screening of video message of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Indian embassy termed the event as a cultural milestone in which the ancient Indian art was performed atop the Chinese marvel.

The streets of Connaught Place's inner circle, where vehicular movement was restricted, wore a festive look as old and young dressed in colourful attire performed various asanas. The CM informed them about the benefits of the yoga and how essential it is for spiritual healing.

The participants included hundreds of school children who got their first taste of yoga.

"Today yoga has become a part of common man's life".
