Ronaldo, 32, has just enjoyed one of his most successful seasons yet for Real Madrid.

The four-time Ballon d'Or victor is believed to be keen to leave Madrid this summer due to allegations from the Spanish tax authorities that he defrauded them of €14.8m (£12.9m).

"I know Cristiano, he's a good guy as a professional and as a person. Normally we don't comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy", Bayern's Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said to the club official website.

A four-time Ballon d'Or victor, the 32-year-old Ronaldo is the top European soccer player.

"I have not spoken with Cristiano. I'll tell you if he was born to play for Madrid or not!"

The prolific striker scored twice to fire Real to a 4-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League final earlier this month but his future at the club was thrown into doubt last week when Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported that he wanted to leave Spain after being accused of committing tax fraud.

As well as Bayern, he has been linked with former club Manchester United, Paris St Germain and a move to the United States or China.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez feels Zinedine Zidane has developed into the best coach in the world since taking charge of the Santiago Bernabeu side.

Ronaldo is at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, playing for Portugal.

This comes in the wake of reports in the British press that Jose Mourinho has sanctioned an eye-watering £175 million move for the wantaway Real Madrid forward.
