Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has avoided commenting on speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Spain.

Ronaldo has been linked with a shock departure from the Spanish and European champions amid scrutiny over his tax affairs.

The 70-year-old businessman called for an election earlier this month, but no one could run against him.

"It has affected me how the media treated Cristiano, the presumption of innocence was not respected", Perez told Onda Cero. Perez says he has not received any offers for the trio.

"The only thing I know is that Cristiano is very angry with the treatment he has received in the press".

"This is all very unusual".

"I will defend [Ronaldo] at all costs as both a player and as a person".

"The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt", Trump tweeted on Sunday. SEKULOW: Well, look, I - I can't imagine the scenario where the president would - would not be aware of it.

Metro throws a fresh angle on the story with its claim that Ronaldo in fact told Alex Ferguson of his intention to leave Real before the tax fraud accusations.

Prosecutors in Madrid have filed a complaint in which they accused Ronaldo of a "voluntary" and "conscious" breach of his tax obligations, amounting to a figure of €14.7million.

Perez, who has been re-elected as Real Madrid president for an historic fifth time, insists he intends to resolve the situation with Ronaldo.

"As no other candidature was put forward to the board ... it is proclaimed that Mr Florentino Pérez Rodríguez is president of Real Madrid", the club said in a statement.

Last year, Real Madrid signed Ronaldo to a contract extension that would keep him with the team through June 2021, and his agent claims that his buyout clause is over $1 billion, which clearly limits the realistic suitors.

Spanish outlet Marca suggest Madrid are demanding a total of £350 million for their record goalscorer this summer.

The one thing that might stop Ronaldo from signing for Manchester United would be the current manager Jose Mourinho, who reportedly did not get along with the multiple-time Ballon d'Or victor during their time at Real Madrid.
