Take-Two shuts down GTA Online Force Hax cheating tool

Rockstar Speaks out against OpenIV Mod Tools

Rockstar Speaks out against OpenIV Mod Tools

Last week, Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, began sending out Cease and Desist letters to various Grand Theft Auto V modding groups. The publisher has now turned its attention to other modding tools, though in these cases their shuttering is unlikely to generate similar outrage. "All modding used by OpenIV is for singleplayer use only to make the game more enjoyable, the software OpenIV was never used to mod multiplayer or Grand Theft Auto Online so it does not harm anyone".

Grand Theft Auto V is the latest in a long line of titles that have allowed their users to be creative with a variety of mods in the single-player mode.

France's Macron to reshuffle government after parliament win
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, the rightwinger chosen by Macron to lead the cabinet, said voters had chosen "hope over misery". Emmanuel Macron was visibly irritated last March at a news conference ahead of the first round of the presidential election.

Heading to the Force Hax website now brings up a message from the developers that states: "After discussions with Take-Two Interactive, effective immediately we are ceasing all maintenance, development and distribution of the Force Hax cheat menu services". The studio has already taken legal action against the creators of the cheats for GTA Online. Similarly, the overall all-time rating for the extremely popular game has become "Mixed" due to Take-Two's controversial move as well. Around 38,000 people gave GTA V negative reviews on Steam, leading to its general score to drop to the "overwhelmingly negative" status. What charity that might be, and how much money will be donated, isn't clear. A petition campaigning to save Open IV is now approaching 50,000 signatures.

Although Rockstar stated that it was enforcing the cease-and-desist order because OpenIV "enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody", it is quite interesting to note that the tool can not be used online. At the time of writing over 39,000 reviews have been submitted recently, with a lot of them being classed as "Overwhelmingly Negative".
