The downside, though, is that trying to find an emoji that you know exists can sometimes result in a large amount of scrolling back and forth.

While hardly a holiday familiar to everyone, Apple is marking the occasion with the reveal of a number of new emojis that are set to become available later this year with the launch of iOS 11 sometime in September.

Despite the fact that Apple only showed off a handful of new characters, there's certainly more to come, as the official spec includes 56 new emoji, all of which should be included when the public update is released.

Anyone with information about the slayings or the person in the sketch is asked to call toll-free to 844-459-5786. Riley said investigators believe the man captured in the photos and in the new artist's sketch killed both girls.

"Bearded person", "breastfeeding", "sandwich" and "coconut" were among the new illustrations.

Included in the icons, which are coming to iOS, watchOS and macOS, are a T. Rex, and elf, a zombie, a zebra and several others. In celebration of World Emoji Day - which apparently is a thing - Apple earlier today published a list of 12 new emojis set to arrive on all of Apple's platforms later this year. The Exploding Head smiley is an instant favorite.

In addition, to mark World Emoji Day, Apple has changed a number of titles of its films in iMovies to emoji-only titles.
