'Dumbo' Cast Confirmed as Production Begins [D23 Expo 2017]

Production starts for live-action reimagining of Disney's Dumbo!

Disney has recently announced a slew of live-action remakes of their animated classics, including a retelling of 101 Dalmations villainess Cruella De Ville, starring Emma Stone.

Walt Disney's classic animated tale Dumbo, which opened October 23, 1941, won an Oscar for best scoring of a musical picture and was nominated for best original song for "Baby Mine".

Will Smith had been considering the lead role as Dumbo, but instead, he will play the Genie in Disney's live-action version of Aladdin (another detail that was confirmed at D23).

As reported by Collider, the Dumbo cast boasts a bevy of award-winning actors. The project is expected to use a mixture of CG and live-action elements to capture a new take on the story, and considering Burton's involvement, we know the end result will at least be a visually distinct piece of work.

Burton is best known for directing "Edward Scissorhands" and "Beetlejuice", and has previously collaborated with Walt Disney Pictures for his 2012 film "Frankenweenie". The live-action version, which will be shot at Pinewood Studios and Cardington Studios in England, will arrive on March 29, 2019.

Trump's Approval Rating Hits A Historic Low Point
Earlier in the week, Trump Jr. hired Alan Futerfas as his personal attorney regarding the Russian Federation investigations. Some 37 percent say the party now stands for something, while 52 percent say it mainly stands against Mr.

The news was swiftly followed by an official press release from Disney, which included the following plot synopsis: Dumbo introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus.

Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith are also set to join the cast.

Eva Green (Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children) is playing a French trapeze artist named Colette who is employed by the movie's villain.

We'll be seeing Tim Burton's take on Dumbo sooner than you think.
