The Houston Rockets have been as busy as any National Basketball Association team this summer.

Team owner Leslie Alexander is putting the Rockets up for sell.

Jeff Balke, a Houston Matters contributor and sports writer for the Houston Press and Houstonia Magazine, said there's no danger of the Rockets leaving Houston anytime soon.

"I've made this decision after much deliberation with my family and friends and do so knowing the franchise is in great shape with the players, coaches and management team in place", added Alexander.

Billionaire businessman and financier Leslie Alexander bought the club before the start of the 1993-94 season for a reported $85 million and it was recently valued at $1.65 billion by Forbes. In 24 seasons under Alexander, the Rockets have won 56.9 percent of their games, fifth-highest in the league.

Barcelona will wait for PSG's Marco Verratti until end of transfer - Valverde
It's very hard to make it better, because of the high standard of players that we have. However, Coach Ernesto Valverde insisted: "I'm counting on both players next season".

"Leslie Alexander is a true competitor who always searched for the right move to make his teams better, Silver said".

Brown said the 74-year-old Alexander had been approached over the years by potential buyers but never considered it until very recently.

Brown told reporters in Houston that Alexander told him: "It can wear on you after so many decades". Instead he said that he had other passions and was looking towards changing the "fabric of his life".

Brown will be working with the league office while the Rockets look for a new owner and there were no plans to hire an outside firm to help. And now they're for sale. "They signed the agreement that basically places them in the city of Houston, in the Toyota Center, for 30 years". Brown said that the rest of the offseason from a basketball operation perspective will not be influenced by this announcement. Throughout his tenure as owner, Alexander and the Clutch City Foundation contributed more than $35 million to hundreds of charities throughout Houston.
