In July 2017, McCall was confirmed as the new chief executive for ITV, another FTSE 100 listed company.

Dame Carolyn, 55, will start work at ITV in January, replacing Adam Crozier, who has been at the helm of the commercial broadcaster for the past seven years.

Analysts at Citi said it was a "good and exciting" appointment, saying her track record was very strong, delivering a total shareholder return of 312 percent during her tenure at the airline, outperforming the United Kingdom market. "It is a fantastic company in a dynamic and stimulating sector", said McCall, commenting on her appointment.

"I will always miss Easyjet and most of all I will miss Easyjet's people whose Orange Spirit helps them do their best to make travel easy and affordable for their customers every day", said McCall.

"For ITV, we think the move suggests the company is comfortable with its strategic direction but her strong personal links should be helpful in several areas", said Liberum analysts, as quoted by Reuters.

Sophie Turner is "terrified" of 'Game of Thrones' coming to an end
Sophie Turner traded her Sansa Stark furs for a shimmery Louis Vuitton number at last night's Game of Thrones premiere in LA. It's more about her figuring out how to treat that power and how to surround herself with the people that are best for her.

"This was a really hard decision for me to make", she said.

In recent years the broadcaster has cut costs aggressively and has grown revenue by buying up smaller TV production rivals around the world.

"As chief executive of ITV, Carolyn will receive an annual salary of £900,000 and a pension allowance of 15 percent of salary", ITV stated. This provides broadly the same remuneration opportunity as to ITV's previous CEO. The existing annual bonus of up to 180% of salary will remain the same. "easyJet's innovative approach has driven both passenger loyalty and growth and delivered sustained success for easyJet's shareholders".

She also sits on the board of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and is a Trustee at the Royal Academy. McCall has also held non-executive director roles with Lloyds TSB (2008-09), Tesco (2005-08) and New Look (1999-2005).

McCall has also been a non-executive director of Burberry since 2014.
