Repairman stuck in ATM rescued by handing out notes

The man, was changing an electronic lock inside a Bank of America in Corpus Christi became trapped inside the room where the ATM was located.

Banking on some good luck, he tried to get the attention of customers using the ATM by passing "help me" notes through the receipt slot of the machine.

"Please help. I'm stuck in here, and I don't have my phone".

Several passers-by took it as a joke until one customer eventually realised what was going on, and the police and the contractor's supervisor arrived.

Following an exchange between officers and the ATM-voice, police kicked down a door inside the Bank of America building and freed the trapped man, whose name has not been released.

The man was reportedly stuck in the ATM for about two hours. They let them know that there was a man stuck in an ATM, and he couldn't call for help himself because he had left his cell phone in his vehicle.

At first, Olden says the officers thought it was a joke too, but they quickly learned the truth. Some of the notes implored people to call his boss.

"But you'll never see this again in your life", Olden said.

Corpus Christi police officer Richard Olden summed up the freakish incident: You'll never see this again in your life that somebody's stuck in the ATM machine.

"The poor guy was just mortified", Pena said.

"So we're all thinking this is a joke - this has got to be a joke", Mr Olden said, holding back a big grin.
