Faith beats terror 16th batch of 3,398 pilgrims leaves for Amarnath from Jammu

Investigators have detained a policeman assigned to ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir as part of their "investigation into a militancy-related case".

Identified as Touseef Ahmad, the police took him for investigation in connection with the Amarnath Yatra terror attack case say sources.

Seven Amarnath pilgrims were killed when their bus was attacked by terrorists in Anantnag on July 10. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to probe the terror attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, is questioning Tauseef Ahmad.

Touseef Amhad, the detained man, is a resident of Pulwama.

However, the veteran actor slammed the critics saying that foul words are being used every day in society. Violation of this can be punished with a fine or imprisonment which may extend to two years.

The source said police have arrested two more persons along with Touseef for their alleged involvement in the same case. While nothing conclusive has emerged about Touseef until now, this is not the first instance of a security personnel's name cropping up in a militancy-related case.

The arrest is second in the series by the police probing the attack on Amaranth Yatra attack.

PDP MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir said he was in Chandigarh for a health check up when his driver was arrested.

The state police has said the attack was carried out by the LeT outfit and a Pakistani national, Muhammad Abu Ismail, along with another foreigner and three local militants were involved in the attack. Seven people died and 19 were injured when terrorists opened fire at a bus ferrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims about 50 km from Pahalgam.
