Record signing Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal ahead after only 85 seconds at the Emirates Stadium, before a Shinji Okazaki header and a Jamie Vardy brace saw 2016 champions Leicester go 2-1 and then 3-2 up.

Jamie Vardy scored to put Leicester ahead just before the half-four mark after a cross from Marc Albrighton, while the awful Leicester centre-back (at least on this day) allowed Danny Welbeck to equalize.

Vardy punished Arsenal for sloppy defending when he won a free header from Mahrez's corner to give Leicester the lead once again.

"But I haven't been able to score on a consistent basis, which is something I need to be able to do".

The former Lyon star made a blistering start to his Arsenal career as he scored his first goal inside two minutes during the 4-3 win over Leicester on Friday.

The Gunners pulled level with a goal in first-half stoppage time by Danny Welbeck, who had hardly been a factor to that point.

The victor would come two minutes later when Frenchman Giroud headed in a Granit Xhaka corner that flicked off the bar and going in.

Lacazette is just the seventh player to score on his Premier League debut for Arsenal, after Kevin Campbell, Steve Bould, Fredrik Ljungberg, Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Thomas Vermaelen.

A loose ball from Granit Xhaka found its way to Marc Albrighton, who guided a magnificent cross into the penalty area from the left flank.

Arsenal - It will be another season of pain for Arsenal with possibly more protests over Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman's thunderous header completed a thrilling comeback for Arsenal on the opening day of the season, and the idea that any suitors might lure Giroud away was met by "a determined no" from Wenger. For a home opener, Arsenal got a pretty good draw.

Obviously, with this being the first game of the season, Arsenal is going to be top of the table for at least the next 12 or so hours until the rest of the Premier League plays on Saturday.

Ramsey and Giroud had been introduced with 23 minutes to go and Ramsey nearly scored with his first touch, whilst Theo Walcott and Ozil had already gone close.
